FAQ

How does the Dell PowerEdge T350 differ from other entry-level servers?

The T350 supports 6- or 8-core Intel Xeon E third-generation processors and up to 64 GB of ECC RAM, making it capable of handling multiple roles simultaneously - database, backup, ERP, and virtual machines. This sets it apart from typical entry-level servers that quickly run out of steam under real business workloads, forcing a costly upgrade to rack-based configurations.

Is the Dell PowerEdge T350 suitable for a small business without an IT department?

Yes. The T350 is a tower server - it sits under a desk or in a back-office cabinet and requires no rack or dedicated server room. Its large, quiet fans mean it won't be a nuisance even in an open office environment. Configurations available from Hardware Direct are complete and ready to use straight out of the box.

What drives and RAID controllers does the Dell PowerEdge T350 support?

The T350 is compatible with RAID controllers h445, h470, and BOSS-S1. The BOSS-S1 allows the operating system to be installed on two M.2 drives, keeping it separate from data storage. The server supports 2.5" SSDs (e.g. 960 GB) and standard 3.5" HDDs up to 4 TB - drive bays can be added incrementally as your business grows.

Do Dell T350 servers from Hardware Direct come with a warranty?

Yes. Every configuration sold by Hardware Direct is tested, complete, and covered by a warranty - with options available up to 36 months. Service and support packages can also be added. This applies to both new servers and refurbished units.

What business applications can be run on the Dell PowerEdge T350?

The T350 works well as a file server, local database server (e.g. MS SQL, PostgreSQL), ERP or warehouse management system, accounting application server, and backup server. With the right RAM and storage configuration, it can host several virtual machines simultaneously without any noticeable drop in performance.

Can the Dell PowerEdge T350 be upgraded after purchase?

Yes. The T350 motherboard features PCIe slots and supports various memory configurations. You can add extra drives, network cards, a backup controller, or a graphics card. Hardware Direct supplies components that have been verified for compatibility with the T350, so there's no need to check hardware compatibility yourself.
