Heatsinks – new and refurbished

Processor performance is one thing, but without proper heat dissipation, even the most powerful CPU can lose stability, performance, or worse, lead to a complete system failure. Server heatsinks, which are radiators that cool processors in rack and tower environments, are a key element in ensuring 24/7 server operation – without throttling or downtime.

At Hardware Direct, you'll find a full spectrum of cooling solutions for Dell, HPE, and Intel platforms – from classic, passive solutions up to 80-120W, through high-performance heatsinks up to 270W, to active cooling with fans. By correctly matching the heatsink to the processor's TDP and the chassis format (1U, 2U), you gain not only security but also optimal performance – even in heavily loaded environments.

For test environments, smaller businesses, or older Dell and HPE platforms, passive heatsinks up to 80-120W are an excellent choice. Models like the Dell PowerEdge R230/R330 80W (RJHXF) or HPE DL380 Gen9 105W (747608-001) offer stable, silent cooling for processors with moderate TDP – without the risk of overheating and without the need for additional fans. Their advantages also include simple screw-on installation and broad compatibility – for example, a DL380 Gen9 heatsink also fits the DL360 Gen9 or DL560.

For small businesses that need a reliable server for file storage, ERP system operation, or simple network services – these are an absolutely sufficient, inexpensive, and proven choice. Prices start from just a few EUR net.

If your server supports a virtualization environment, works with scientific computing, or simply "grinds" dozens of virtual machines daily – opt for a high-performance heatsink. Models like the Dell PowerEdge R450/R650XS 270W (T7N3J) or HPE DL360 Gen10 205W (873591-001) are designed for the most demanding chips – from Xeon Gold/Platinum to AMD EPYC. Their optimized 1U or 2U design allows for effective cooling in densely packed rack cabinets. With TDP reaching 270W, a good heatsink becomes a condition for operation without throttling, especially in rendering, HPC, or containerization systems. It's worth adding that these models are fully compatible with original server brackets and often come in versions with additional thermal channels for VRM and memory.

Most rack servers use passive cooling, supported by internal rack cabinet fans. But there are also cases where active heatsinks – with a built-in fan – are more practical. For example, in tower servers or small environments where there's no separate airflow. Examples? Intel Gen10 LGA1200 70W (K69237-001) or Dell PowerEdge T130 73W (DCR30) – both with their own fans, designed for continuous operation in compact enclosures. They are ideal where mounting space is limited, and at the same time, you want to fully utilize the CPU. This type of cooling also has its place in edge servers, NAS devices, or backup environments operating away from the central server room.

Hardware Direct doesn't treat heatsinks as random accessories. Every heatsink is physically in stock, tested, and identified for TDP and compatibility with a specific server model. You'll find both older models for E5-2600 v3/v4 and the latest for Gen10 and EPYCs – up to 2U in height, with screw-on, snap-on, or custom clip mounting. If in doubt, the technical team helps select a heatsink not only by CPU model but also by chassis, platform, and environmental needs. Plus: a 12-month warranty and immediate shipping. And if you're planning to upgrade a larger number of servers – there are wholesale discounts and availability of models in multi-packs. It's not just convenience – it's a concrete saving of time and money.
